Around 19:30hrs Saturday night, crews were dispatched to 117 N. Shelby St. in Blacksburg for possible working structure fire. Within minutes, crews were on scene to confirm a working fire and swiftly went into action preserving evidence, buildings, and businesses along the business corridor. Thank you to all who assisted tonight with the structure fire on N. Shelby Street in downtown Blacksburg. We were fortunate to get a quick knock down on the fire in order to keep it from spreading to the adjoining buildings. We are also very thankful for the masonry “fire walls” these buildings were constructed with which provided us enough time to get the fire under control. Agencies included Blacksburg, CKC, Buffalo, Antioch, Gaffney station 15, and Grover fire departments also Medic 3, 911 dispatch center, Cherokee County Emergency Management, Blacksburg PD and the Cherokee County Fire Investigation Team. (Sorry if we missed anyone). Units are still working on the scene so please avoid the area. Fire is still under investigation……….
Also thanks to Cherokee County Communication (911) for assisting through this busy time throughout the evening.
