Copperhead Bite Airlifts One
Email Print RSS Facebook Twitter RSS

September 17, 2018

On 9/17/2018, at approximately 9:20pm, Blacksburg units responded to reports of a snake bite at Food Lion parking lot.

Upon arrival, units made contact with a male patient with a wound to his ankle. Patient was able to tell personnel that he was bitten as he was taking the trash out. The snake was recovered from his home, and confirmed to be a copperhead snake.

The patient was then airlifted to Spartanburg Regional.

Copperheads have a tendency to become active after long periods of rain. Use care when venturing out at night time. Use a flashlight or other lighting device to illuminate around you.
